Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Training Course
Onsite training for qualify staff to operate a variety of common GSE
Introduction
Enhance your airside ramp skills with our specialised Ground Service Equipment (GSE) training course. This programme qualifies personnel to safely operate and drive GSE relevant to their role within airport ground handling operations.
The course begins with classroom based safety training, followed by on ramp practical sessions tailored to the specific equipment in use. Participants receive hands on instruction covering equipment controls, safety systems and operational procedures. Training concludes with live demonstrations, supervised operation and a final competency assessment.
Fully aligned with IATA AHM 1110 (RMP12, 13, 14 & 15) standards as applicable, this training ensures safe, compliant and efficient GSE operations.
Training can be provided for, but is not limited to, the following motorised and non motorised GSE:

Main deck loader (MDL)
Lower deck loader (LDL)
Pushback tractor (conventional and towbarless)
Ground to flight deck communication (headset operator)
Electric baggage tugs, including ULD and bulk dollies
Ground power unit (GPU)
Air start unit (ASU)
Duration: Up to 1 day for theoretical training, depending on equipment type. Practical training duration varies based on the number of participants.
Maximum participants: 10 per course.
Delivery method: Theory (Classroom) & Practical (Live environment), both instructor-led.
Continuing qualification: IATA recommends that refresher training is undertaken every 36 months.
Please note: this course does not include Airside Driving Permit (ADP) training, which is typically delivered by, or on behalf of, the Airport Operator and is a pre-requisite for GSE training.
For those who require combined aircraft pushback and headset operator training, we also offer the Aircraft Departure Qualification (ADQ) course.

1. Why is it important?
Ground Service Equipment (GSE) operations are safety critical and require equipment specific training to ensure safe and compliant use. Due to the specialist nature of GSE, industry best practice requires that personnel are trained and assessed on each equipment type to reduce risk, prevent incidents and support safe ramp operations.
-
2. Who should attend?
This GSE training course is intended for personnel who hold a valid Airside Driving Permit (ADP) and are required to operate and drive Ground Service Equipment as part of their role in airport ground handling operations.
Please note: This training is delivered exclusively as an in-company course for organisations. It is not available to private individuals.
-
3. Course objectives
To provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate Ground Service Equipment (GSE) in accordance with industry standards.
