Aircraft Turnaround Coordinator Training Course

Training for those supervising aircraft turnaround operations

Introduction

In today’s fast paced and complex ground handling environment, the role of the Turnaround Coordinator is critical to delivering safe, efficient and on time aircraft turnaround operations. Managing an aircraft turnaround requires more than process. It demands the ability to coordinate multiple moving parts, maintain situational awareness and keep ramp operations aligned under pressure.

This key role goes beyond simply following procedures. Turnaround Coordinators must be observant, decisive and confident communicators, able to think on their feet and apply sound judgement in a constantly changing operational environment.

This course is designed to build those capabilities. It begins with core airside safety principles before progressing through key areas such as ramp operations, turnaround coordination and weight and balance awareness, culminating in a focused, practical understanding of the Turnaround Coordinator role.

Fully aligned with the latest requirements of IATA AHM 1110 (RMP18), this programme provides both the knowledge and applied insight needed to support safe, efficient and compliant ground handling operations.

Duration: 3 days

Maximum participants: 10 per course.

Delivery method: Theory (Classroom), instructor-led.

Continuing qualification: IATA recommends that refresher training is undertaken every 36 months.

This course is often combined with our Loadmaster training course. For those who require a more basic grounding in airside operations, try our Aviation Basics & Airside Safety training course.

  • 1. Why is it important?

Achieving on time departures (OTP), maximising load opportunities and ensuring personnel safety are key priorities during any aircraft turnaround. The Turnaround Coordinator plays a central role by overseeing the turnaround process and keeping all activities aligned and on schedule.

Through effective coordination, clear communication and real time oversight of ramp operations, the Turnaround Coordinator ensures safe, efficient and compliant ground handling operations.

  • 2. Who should attend?

Turnaround Coordinators, Loadmasters, Ramp Supervisors, Ramp Agents, Aircraft Dispatchers and Team Leaders of a GHSP or an Airline would benefit from attending this course.

Please note: This training is delivered exclusively as an in-company course for organisations. It is not available to private individuals.

  • 3. Course objectives

To provide participants with a clear understanding of the key requirements for coordinating a safe, efficient and compliant aircraft turnaround across ramp and airside operations.
