Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Training for Bournemouth Airport’s Cargo Team

Earlier this month, the Miles Aviation Consultancy training team was on site at Bournemouth Airport, supporting the expansion of their cargo operation with focused Ground Service Equipment (GSE) training.

With new staff joining the ramp team, it was essential they were equipped with the core competencies to operate safely and effectively in a live environment.

Our instructors, Dean Court and Paul Willis, delivered tailored training covering two key operational areas:

  • Pushback Tractor Operations

  • Ground to Flight Deck Communications

Both of these form part of our wider GSE Training Course, which is designed as a modular programme, allowing clients to select and combine specific equipment types and operational areas to suit the needs of their operation. In this case, Bournemouth opted to focus on the theoretical components of these two modules, providing a strong foundation for practical ramp operations and certification.

"It’s always great to see new team members so engaged right from the start. Bournemouth’s commitment to investing in training early on set the foundation for a safe and efficient operation — full credit to their team and to our instructors for delivering it so effectively."
Simon Miles, Managing Director, Miles Aviation Consultancy

Delivered on site and aligned with the airport’s operational requirements, the training ensured each participant was fully briefed on safety principles, standard operating procedures, and the technical aspects of the equipment and communication protocols involved. We’ve included a few behind-the-scenes photos below — great to see new recruits stepping confidently into their roles.
